There’s nothing I love more than getting out of the house and seeing what fun San Diego has to offer. We’re blessed to live in a city that offers a little bit of everything for everyone in the family. And with our insane schedule, we rarely get a chance to just get out and explore! So this past weekend, my family and I spent some time outside of the house and traveled in our own backyard with a staycation at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. We spent time exploring the nearby Carlsbad Pumpkin Patch, eating dinner (and breakfast !) at the 7 Mile Kitchen, and relaxing in our suites.

Stay And Play

With an invitation to stay at the beautiful Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa, we couldn’t say no. We occupied two connecting suites, which was definitely enough space for my family of six and our littlest pup. Yes, they’re a dog-friendly hotel! That means no family member will be left behind on your staycation. It was nice to have space to spread out with all of us there, and the kids having their own suite meant a little alone time to relax for mom and dad.

Eat Locally

We didn’t have to travel far for good cuisine. On property, award-winning Executive Chef Julian Quiñones runs 7 Mile Kitchen. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, they offer family favorites like wood-fired pizzas and gourmet burgers that we literally couldn’t get enough of. We stopped in for dinner one night and went right back for breakfast the next morning. Make sure you get those berry pancakes.

Spending Time Together

The hotel also offered a complimentary shuttle to and from the Carlsbad Pumpkin Patch! As we went just days before Halloween, we couldn’t pass it up! The kids grabbed a few last-minute pumpkins to carve, and mom grabbed a whole bunch of pumpkins to decorate with for Thanksgiving. Not to mention a couple to make some pumpkin pie! Fall is one of our favorite times of the year, so it was great spending the weekend in the crisp San Diego outdoors, hunting for pumpkins with my whole family, including Darla!
