Is it fall yet? Everywhere I go I see cute little jack-o-lanterns, pumpkin spice lattes, and cozy sweaters that make me wish for chilly weather. But when I open my front door—bam—it’s 75 degrees outside. I love living in San Diego with its year-round blue skies and warm, sunny beaches, but after a long, hot summer I’m ready for PSL season to hit. Unfortunately, the calendar says we still have two more weeks of summer (technically). That’s okay because I have my sweaters, boots, and the rest of my fall style on standby. But in the meantime, I can still enjoy the casual fun of a tee and shorts. And with a little creative color and accessories, I can almost make it feel like fall.
For something more seasonally appropriate as we transition into autumn, I love wearing summer staples in darker colors and textures. Like a pair of dark jean shorts, with a tee that has a cute leopard print. Add to that a wide-brim hat and some chunky boots and it feels a little more like fall style in no time. I might not head to the beach in my darker summer look, but I could definitely head to Michaels to pick up some craft supplies for the kids! It’s cute, it’s light, and more importantly, I can sip on my pumpkin spice latte without feeling too out of place!
“Too much good taste can be very boring. Independent style, on the other hand, can be very inspiring.” – Diana Vreeland
