Is it fall yet? I don’t know if it’s because I’m knee-deep in back-to-school season, or I’m just ready for the heat to be over, but I’m already planning for fall. We still have another month of the summer heat, but I’m already feeling a little fashionably inspired by fall. Of course, I have to find a way to wear it that still keeps me cool! Enter the plaid blazer! When fall comes I can toss it over a sweater or pair it with a turtleneck. But right now, in the last days of summer, it pairs well with a band tee and my jean skirt. Elevated but cool.
And while I love that formality of a double-breasted plaid blazer (think of all the ways I can wear it come fall!) it’s fun to pair it with the unexpected. This isn’t a traditional go-to look for me, but I love how it feels! The blazer is suddenly cool and unfussy with the casual outfit, and at the same time, it brings a little spice to an otherwise basic summer look. Give it a try and see if this seasonally transitional look works for you!
“A little bad taste is like a nice splash of paprika. We all need a splash of bad taste—it’s hearty, it’s healthy, it’s physical. I think we could use more of it. No taste is what I’m against.” —Diana Vreeland
