The Alt Summit: Inspired Beyond Belief

Last month, I was able to do something truly spectacular, but let’s back up a minute. When I started this blog years ago, I’m not sure I would have believed how much it would grow. Yes, it took time to find my rhythm and the courage it takes to share my personal journey with the world, but despite the ups and downs, I wouldn’t change a thing!

Alt Summit was founded 10 years ago and has had 14 events so far!

A Strong Social Media Presence Is Every Marketers Dream

When Angela from Mommy Diary and I were invited to the Altitude Summit to talk about what we’ve learned and the insight we’ve gained, we jumped at the opportunity. I’m all about giving back, so if anything I know can help another woman or another mom find her place in this world, I’m happy to share. I’ll admit that I was little teary-eyed when I kissed Bobby and the kids goodbye, but I was also excited to head to Palm Springs and meet amazing women who both inspire me and were ready to be inspired.

Leaving An Inspiring Digital Footprint

From March 24-29, 2019, the Altitude Summit took over Palm Springs, literally. Summiters were in hotels all over the city and it was amazing! Even though it’s over, I’m still feeling invigorated from the excitement, and that’s because the Alt Summit isn’t just any ordinary conference—it’s also a community. Thousands of women influencers and entrepreneurs in creative fields came together for a solid week to pool our collective brilliance and make truly incredible things happen.

It was an amazing feeling to be surrounded by truly remarkable leaders in the industry like husband and wife team Cortney and Robert Novogratz, Michelle from Cultivate Your Space, Joanna Venditi from Nesting Story, Amber Muse, Amber Tran and so many more.

We stayed at the Parker Palm Springs, and what can I say? We felt like we were living the high life! With the mountains as a backdrop, exploring the grounds was an experience in itself! Lush and treed, every moment felt like I was sitting in the lap of luxury. With three pools, a tennis court and a croquet lawn, you won’t ever want to leave.

Plus, the Parker Palm Springs also had impressive fitness facilities, but who am I kidding? The biggest workout I got was running back and forth between all the events! Okay, I might have stopped at a few of the amazing restaurants in the hotel too, but a woman has to stay fueled when she’s changing the world!

Since 2009, Alt Summit has held seven flagship conferences in Salt Lake City, two flagship conferences in Palm Springs, two summer conferences in New York, one summer conference in San Francisco, and two summer events in Salt Lake City.

Gram Like a Mother

The Instagram Workshop Angela and I participated in consisted of three, 30-minute segments for a captivated audience. Tara Nearants from Rad & Happy kicked things off with a discussion on Rocking Your Instagram Stories, followed by Katie Saffert’s panel on The Power of Creating Community on Instagram.

Angela Kim (Mommy Diary) and I wrapped up the workshop with our Gram Like a Mother session. Our goal was to share how we’ve used our voice to cultivate our own brand, and to inspire others to use theirs, too! Anyone can do this, and it felt so powerful to give that message to a workshop full of my fellow strong women! And you can be sure we will be creating an online course that will coincide with our workshop.

Already planning for next year? Alt Summit 2020 will be held Sunday, March 1st through Friday, March 6th.

Angela + Danielle = A Winning Team

You’ve heard that opposites attract? Well, Angela and I are living proof that it’s true. When we come together, it’s like magic! It wasn’t easy leaving our families for the week, including seven kids total(!), but we knew we couldn’t pass up this opportunity to collaborate. We both feel so passionate about helping people learn to find their voice and inspire others on social media.

When our Gram Like a Mother session was over, people were actually waiting to meet us! It was immediately clear that we were on to something! Everyone’s voice matters and our workshop covered how to choose an aesthetic that fits specific brand goals, how to use storytelling photography and utilizing captions to captivate. We also explored best practices for creating a community, not a following, hash tagging and tagging to impress brands through Instagram Stories and Highlights.

Weren’t able to attend Alt Summit? We’ve got you covered! We were so amazed by the response that we’ve decided to take this show on the road! Angela and I will be creating a series of workshops designed to provide useful tips to plant the seeds of opportunity throughout your social media platform. You’re definitely going to want to check it out!

Some of our key takeaways:

  • Your Story Matters
  • Create A Community, Not A Following
  • Know The Tools That Work
  • Give Visual Breaks
  • Expand Your Brand

If We Can Sell It On a Flexible Schedule, and Stay at Home… We’re In!

Having the opportunity to mom, wife and create a revenue stream around something we love, is the new American dream. And only those who are highly motivated, who are consistent in brand and social engagement, and who don’t give up before that moment of motivation becomes a mindset will succeed.

I am beyond blessed to share this endeavor with women around the world. This has been the most fulfilling and rewarding job I’ve ever had. And this is just the beginning. The rise of the stay at home ‘mompreneur’ has not even come close to reaching its peak. Brands all over the world consider us a powerful vehicle in reaching their audience. We all know that moms hold the purchasing power—at least that holds true in our household. So, to all the women out there entering into or mastering the stay-at-home hustle, I salute you. And I believe there’s room for all of us to thrive here.

While I’m happy to be back in familiar surroundings, falling into my familiar groove, I’m excited for what the future holds. I’m grateful for my life, but I’m unbelievably excited to help other mamas find their voice, too. Can’t wait to share what Angela and I have been working on. Stay tuned!
