I love being the mother of four wonderfully creative children! My kids are always learning something new and finding new hobbies and ways to express themselves creatively. And for my littlest babe, Boss Baby Brody it’s that individuality that makes him flourish. It’s that unmatched confidence and free spirit that makes him unique. He’s a talented performer, and now he wants to try even more! This year, he’s taking a new class and is now learning songwriting on the piano!

Children who study music tend to have larger vocabularies and more advanced reading skills than their peers who do not participate in music lessons.

Find the Right Online Music School

We enrolled him in online classes at Blue Balloon Songwriting School so he could find a new outlet for all of his talent! The female-started school was founded in 2010 by Rachel Lipson, who has the title the “matriarch of modern music education.” (Because she’s an accomplished teacher, performer, and songwriter!) And they offer a network of 60+ talented and creative independent instructors, all of who can teach your littles to write, sing, play, and record their own compositions. The lessons are one-on-one and kids learn to play an instrument through writing their own unique songs over the course of each semester of lessons.

Children who study a musical instrument are more likely to excel in all of their studies, work better in teams, have enhanced critical thinking skills, stay in school, and pursue further education.

Discover a New Passion

So far, Brody is loving his private piano lessons! He’s able to focus on his creative expression with a class that tailored to his interests and passions. Plus every year at the end of their classes, they hold a “songwriter’s showcase” where each student performs one original song in front of a live audience! This year, it’ll be on Zoom and include kids from all over the world! He’s so excited! It’s a fun, engaging class that teaches him piano and songwriting through his own songs—and he has so many awesome ideas.

Let Kids Express Themselves

“Having the opportunity to bring creativity and engagement to our students during a time of so much isolation and stress—all while continuing to provide work for our network of teaching artists and staff—has been very fulfilling,” Rachel told me. “Running a business through this pandemic has been challenging but reminds me of why I started this company 11 years ago. We get to bring music, songwriting, creativity, and self-expression into the lives of our young students regardless of what’s happening in the world around us—what could be better than that?”

Music engages areas of the brain which are involved with paying attention, making predictions, and updating events in our memory.

Give Kids Creative Confidence

With my bright, bold, creative Boss Baby, I know he’s benefitting from the child-led approach to music lessons. The students learn through creative expression—building confidence and a love and passion for music every step of the way. And he’s learning so much! His creative confidence has challenged the rest of us to embrace our own inner selves and to walk more proudly, no matter how we express ourselves!
