When we were stationed in North Carolina, I found a group of moms that would drag me to the gym despite the exhaustion I faced as a mom. They would make me take every class imaginable, and always held me accountable for working out. Since moving back to the west coast, I really haven’t found my “gym groove.” Sure I go to the gym from time to time, but I am definitely the type of person who needs a little push and motivation when it comes to working out.

After ten years of mothering, it simply hasn’t been easy to sustain a fitness routine. There’s always something going on, or shall I say, I always have an excuse… “not today, maybe tomorrow.”  And after the past 24 months of parenting (my youngest just turned two years old) it dawned on me… all I have is NOW.  What am I waiting for? I’ll never blink my eyes and magically become that fit mom that I sometimes obsess over. Becoming fit is a choice for those lucky enough to be blessed with a healthy mind and body, and I am finally ready to take charge, set some fitness goals, and start making things happen. After all, I’ve got four kids who need mom at her best – now and 40 years from now.

Along with a few of my fellow mommy influencer friends, I was recently invited to check out Curves in Oceanside, California. Much to my surprise, this one-stop fitness shop would pack a whole lot of punch, in a 30 minute total body workout. I have truly never considered going to an all girls gym before, but I am so glad I tried it.

5 Reasons The Curves Workout Worked For Me

  1. There’s no time for chit-chat. It’s all work for 30 minutes, meaning mama has to put her phone down.
  2. Each set lasts 30 seconds, so you are constantly moving which makes the workout fly by.
  3. You are working out alongside a coach in every class, which leaves out the guesswork of whether your form is right or wrong.
  4. You are working every major muscle group with every class.
  5. In between each strength training machine, there’s a short set of cardio keeping your heart rate up. Plus, the lack of mirrors keeps you focused on what you are doing.

Healthy mom

I am sure we can all agree that being the matriarch of your home is no easy task. Being a wife plus mother to four kids and two fur babies yields a non-stop, multi-directional lifestyle that I’ve chosen for myself and wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. My family is the subject of my stories and the ultimate source of my happiness. But with a large family, comes a very busy schedule. With three out of four kids back at school, I have certainly shifted gears and realize NOW is a good time to take charge of my fitness goals. I encourage you to check out Curves if you are looking for a quick, no hassle workout.  Are you ready to get Curves Strong? Visit www.curves.com for more information.

  1. I have been going to Fitbody boot camp…its a 30 minute high intensity class that is primarily women. It has changed my routine in such a positive way! I love it!
