Real talk on parenting, advocacy, and using our voices for change
April Is Alcohol Responsibility Month—and It Matters More Than Ever
Hi friends,
This April, I traveled to Washington D.C. to raise my voice for something that matters big time: Alcohol Responsibility Month. As a mom of four and a proud partner of Responsibility.org, I joined other fierce parents to advocate for safer, smarter choices around alcohol and substance use.
Because let’s be honest—we’re raising kids in a world where the pressure is real, the access is easy, and the conversations around alcohol? They need to start way earlier than most of us think.

Why Alcohol Responsibility Month Hits Home
April is a powerful reminder that how we talk to our kids about alcohol, peer pressure, and personal choices can shape the kind of humans they grow up to be. And it starts with us.
Whether it’s modeling responsible choices or creating space for honest conversations, our influence as parents is HUGE. That’s why I jumped at the chance to visit D.C.—to represent the everyday mom who cares deeply about this stuff and wants to make a difference.

What Responsibility.org Is All About
Responsibility.org is a national nonprofit that’s been doing the work for over 30 years—focusing on eliminating underage drinking, ending impaired driving, and empowering adults to model responsibility.
Their programs are game changers:
- Ask, Listen, Learn helps spark early conversations with kids about alcohol and the brain.
- Alcohol101+ offers smart tools for college students navigating real-world choices.
- CARS (Computerized Assessment and Referral System) connects the dots between mental health and risky behavior like impaired driving.
These are the kinds of resources that help us not just talk about responsibility—but truly live it.

Moms, We’re the Real Influencers
In D.C., I met with lawmakers and shared my truth—not as an expert, but as a mom who knows what it’s like to worry, to guide, and to hope we’re doing it all right.
Our stories matter. Our voices can shape laws, impact programs, and create safer communities for our kids. This trip was a powerful reminder: we don’t have to be politicians to create change. We just have to show up.
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
Alcohol Responsibility Month may be just one month on the calendar, but the conversations we have with our kids last a lifetime. So let’s keep talking. Keep modeling. Keep standing up.
Because raising responsible humans? That’s the real legacy.
With love and purpose,
Dani💕
