Back to school season is in full swing, and sporting the latest trends takes top of the list for my little hipsters. Finding clothes that allow them to express themselves is clutch, especially for that first week back at school. With Jackson starting 5th grade, Dylan 4th, and Roman finally in kindergarten, our relentless quest for bold, colorful threads was a top priority.
This year, my style savvy mini-scholars are paving their own paths to confidence, self-expression and comfort with the best in the business, Nordstrom! An incredible eye for what’s next in fashion, Nordstrom’s new hipster kiddie collections are taking these tykes from the classroom, straight to the cool kids club. The trendy urban kidswear collections mix classic with contemporary, integrating rich texture and patterns, and my kids can’t get enough.
On the West Coast, specifically Southern California, it’s all about surf, skate and swagger. Sneakers are all the rage for the school season, and my tribe couldn’t wait to set themselves apart with fun and funky garb to compliment their new kicks. Nordstrom made it easy to define their looks, with expansive selections representing the SoCal lifestyle we all so love.
SoCal friends, have you heard? Nordstrom at Westfield UTC is relocating and opening a new store on October 12th. The leading fashion retailer will feature all of their newest design concepts—more of the fashion you love—equipped with a full-service restaurant and bar called Bazille. How’s that for the ultimate shop and dine experience? But that’s not all, you can now shop online and enjoy curbside pick up at Nordstrom – a brilliant amenity for busy moms on the go, looking to avoid the terrifying task of shopping with little ones.
My experience with Nordstrom has always been top-notch, consistently exceeding expectations, so I wasn’t surprised to learn that the new store environment will create a sense of discovery, allowing customers to navigate easily and to find new brands they haven’t before experienced. They are also incorporating more natural light throughout the store to connect the in-store shopping experience to the outside world. Sounds like the perfect design for La Jolla, California. For a town whose name stands for ‘the jewel’, I wouldn’t expect anything less.
Opening Gala Will Raise Money For Local Charities
To celebrate the completion of the newly relocated store in La Jolla at Westfield UTC, Nordstrom will be hosting a gala on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. The event, entirely underwritten by Nordstrom, is expected to raise $100,000 for local non-profits Promises2Kids and Voices for Children.
Gala attendees will enjoy a night of cocktails, food, entertainment, fashion presentations of the season’s newest looks, and be among the first to shop the new 145,000 sq. ft. store before it opens to the public on Thursday, October 12. Complimentary valet parking will be provided. Tickets are $100 per person for the gala. To purchase tickets, click here by September 26. For special accommodations or more information, email nordstromgala@promises2kids.org or call (858) 751-6620.
About Promises2Kids and Voices for Children
Promises2Kids is a leading nonprofit organization originally founded over 30 years ago as the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation of San Diego County. Since 1981, Promises2Kids has responded to the needs of foster children and provided support to children removed from their home due to abuse and neglect. They annually provide over 3,300 current and former foster youth in San Diego County with the tools, opportunities and the guidance they need to address the circumstances that brought them into foster care, overcome the difficulties of their past and grow into healthy, happy and successful adults.
Voices for Children (VFC), founded in 1980, transforms the lives of foster children in San Diego and Riverside Counties by providing them with volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). CASA volunteers advocate for a foster child or sibling group in Court, in school, and in the community to ensure their needs are met. Voices for Children believes that every child deserves a safe and permanent home and strives to provide a CASA volunteer to every child in the foster care system who needs one. Last year, Voices for Children CASAs and staff advocated on behalf of 3,190 foster children. For more information, visit www.speakupnow.org
