Let’s talk, mama to mama.
We juggle a lot. From making sure everyone’s lunchbox has their favorite snack to remembering the exact shade of ballet pink for that dance recital. We’re the queens of planning — but one place we’re often way too casual?
👉 Alcohol.

Recently, I partnered with Responsibility.org and sat in on a fascinating (and eye-opening) webinar about drunk and impaired driving. And friends, the numbers are sobering (no pun intended):
- Nearly 12,000 lives lost last year in alcohol-related crashes.
- 1 in 10 adults admit to driving under the influence.
- Many think they’re okay because they can “walk straight” — but spoiler: that’s not how impairment works.
What struck me most?
Even those with the best intentions — I’ll only have two drinks, I’ll Uber home, I’ll pace myself — can find themselves making risky decisions when the night unfolds differently.
So what can we do?
Here’s my call to action (and what I do myself):
✅ Make a plan BEFORE you go out.
Who’s the DD? Will you split an Uber? Are you okay leaving the car overnight?
✅ Know your limit.
Responsibility.org has an amazing tool called the Virtual Bar, where you can plug in your weight, gender, and drink choices to understand how alcohol affects your body.
✅ Remind your friends.
It’s not nagging, it’s love. We all need a friend who says, “Hey, let’s call it, let’s grab a ride.”
✅ Rethink assumptions.
A $40 Uber feels expensive — but a DUI? Or worse? It’s a cost none of us want to pay.
Look, I’m not here to guilt anyone. I love a glass of wine with girlfriends as much as the next mom. But we are raising the next generation, and they’re watching us — how we celebrate, how we cope, and how we take responsibility.
So let’s model it right. 💛
Because nothing looks better on a mom than making it home safely to tuck her babies in.
