ICYMI: We’re a Kohl’s family. Have been ever since I cracked the code and discovered I could grab all of the back-to-school essentials for all four of my kids in one spot. Um, yes, please!

We’re just starting the school year and it’s been an adjustment for all of us. In a lot of ways, it works! We’re distance learning this year, and I love having the kids home with me all day. And I don’t miss spending hours of my life in the pick-up lines once school gets out—oh, the mUber days! But I know that it’s tough and I know that my kids miss seeing their friends in person—even if they enjoy sleeping in a little more in the mornings!

Because of this, I knew I wanted to treat them to some extra special back-to-school shopping this year to make up for it. Even at home, our kids should feel empowered, confident, and excited to learn! Read on for the must-have items on our back-to-school list to get ready for distance learning, in-person learning, or whatever else 2020 is going to throw our way!

In 2019, US households with students in grades K-12 spent an average of $696.70 on back-to-school shopping.

Love for Activewear

Let’s face it, it’s easier to convince my kids to wear activewear than a pair of jeans. (Especially when they’re at home for the schoolday.) Plus, they’re active kids already. I made sure each of them had a comfortable, yet stylish look for the days when pulling on a pair of denim is just asking too much (we’ve all been there).

Kohl’s has all of our favorite brands, like Champion, Under Armour, Nike, Adidas—the list goes on! Breathable tees, form-fitting leggings, sleek shorts, they all are comfortable but still look put together.

Tees for All

If you ask me what’s the one thing I feel like I’m constantly buying for my kids, it’s graphic t-shirts. It feels like every few months my kids have a new range of interests, favorite shows, favorite movies, and more that they want on a shirt. With these ever-changing interests, Kohl’s keeps up with plenty of options of all the latest styles and trends, for both my older and younger kids.

Whether it’s vintage band tees, popular Disney and Marvel characters, our beloved Baby Yoda—they have it all. As a mom who can barely keep up, especially when the back-to-school shopping season rolls around, I always feel relieved that Kohl’s will have whatever we’re looking for.

In the US, the average school day is 6.8 hours long. In Finland, it’s 5 hours, and in Taiwan, it’s 8.5 hours.

Pattern Lovers

My kids are bold babes with their own unique personalities. It’s what I love most about them. As they’re growing older, it’s been so cool to see them grow into themselves, what they like, what they don’t, how they express themselves.

Through their clothes, we have three musts: color, pattern, and style. Dylan loves tie-dye and stripes. Roman? All for sports-forward looks and earth tones. To match his big personality, Brody wants all of the color and sparkle. And our oldest, Jackson, keeps it cool in classic colors.

Kohl’s makes it simple with plenty of options in every size and style under the sun. The best part? They offer drive-up and store pick-up so we don’t have to go in!

Fun With Education

As the kids go back to school from home, we’re taking a few extra steps this year to make sure that they’re learning everything they can even when they aren’t in a traditional classroom. Kohl’s has great educational toys for every age group and everything you need to outfit their at-home learning space

Whether it’s tablets and headphones or a microscope and a lap desk, you can get everything you need in one place, making back-to-school shopping, and this school year, just a little bit easier for our family.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American Medical Association all recommend that school days start after 8:30 a.m., but 87 percent of US public schools start earlier than that.
